WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
Who would have thought that by being relegated to take High School Drafting, the founder of ASA’s life long passion would become Residential ARCHITECTURE! Over three decades Jon Anderson’s passion for architecture and all the profession has to offer; still burns as bright as ever.
THE FOUNDATION
After receiving a Bachelor of Architecture in 1986 from the University of Arizona, Jon started his career in the construction industry. He gained employment with the small to mid sized construction company, Sundius Construction. Over the next 4 years, Jon accumulated a great deal of knowledge mostly unknown to architects. He completed his career with Sundius running their Estimating and Contract Administration Department. This experience proved invaluable to his growth and development as an Architect.
Looking back, he realizes that he was an interpreter for subcontractors. He would read the architect’s plans and explain the scope of work to the subcontractors. This commitment to detail created a great comfort level with the subs during the bidding and construction process. Due to their clearly defined scope of work, the subs provided very competitive bids. Both the subs and Sundius benefited from Jon’s diligence.
STARTING OVER
Most would consider the shift over to Architecture as starting over. Jon saw it as the next logical progression in his growth within the industry. He quickly found a home with the small boutique Architectural firm of Gordon Rogers & Company in Sacramento California.
The advantage of having a construction background allowed him to secure a position as a project manager overseeing a staff that all had more experience within the Architecture profession than himself. Over the next three years, Jon completed his apprenticeship and testing requirements to become licensed as an Architect in the states of California and Arizona.
ALONG THE WAY ON HIS OWN
In 1993 Anderson Studio Architects was finally born. Jon never forgets the lessons from his construction years. In fact, those years have become the basis for his diligence to providing outstanding customer service and guaranteeing appealing home remodeling projects that are cost effective to build.
